CHARGE OF MURDER.

PRISONER BEFORE THE COURT. Thomas Fry, alias Floyd., was charged at the Police Court yesterday morning- with having, on the 23rd March, feloniously and violently assaulted William Veitch at Wairoa South, thereby putting him in bodily fear, and with having stolen one watch and one penny, valued at £3 15s Id, from the person of the said William Veitch. The same prisoner was also charged with having, at the same place and on the same date, feloniously, wilfully, and of his malice aforethought, killed and murdered the said William Veitch. Inspector Broham asked that the case might be adjourned until Wednesday next. l)r. Giles asked the prisoner if he had anything to say with regard to the adjournment. The prisoner stated that he had nothing to say. The case was then adjourned till the date asked for.
