THE PETITION TO TBE QUEEN. [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORESPONDENTS.] RoTOßUAjjWednesday. To-day six coaches and bug[ies started for Oxford and Okoroire, takiig Lord and Lady Onslow, Miss Gardinei Admiral and Lady Charles Scott, the Hin. A. J. Cadman, Mr. Lewis, Lord Ancrun, Mr. Fuller, Captain Guthrie, Mr. Walroni, four press representatives, and several ohers. Last oight To Keepa Rantipuawhe and his -people assembled in rone of the Geyser Hotel, at Whakariwarewa, in honour of the Governor's visit. His Excellency delivered a short gieech, which was interpreted by Mr. Danseyf after which Te Keepa replied, and expressd his great joy at the opportune arrival of the Governor, as ho had a petition ready to send to Her Majesty th< Queen, and he would liko to read it to His Excellency. The party thenadjourned to one of the rooms, where the petition was laid on the table and its conteits explained to the Governor, who pointec out that in its present form it hardly con'cyed the desires of the natives, and he advised them to formulate their grievances and attach the same to the petition, ard he would forward it with a memo, t> the Queen. This they promised to do. Part of the petition refers ,o the Treaty of Waitangi and the troublis that press sorely upon the people of Jew Zealand, and the petitioners ask thrv a person of rank, unconnected with eithetthe Home or
Colonial Government, be appointed by Her Majesty to watch their intereas. Lord Charles Scott and leveral other Europeans were present durng the proceedings. Okoroikk, Vednesday. Lord and Lady Onslow, Loid and Lady Chas. Scott, Lord Ancrum anc , party, six in all, the Hon. the Native Sinister, Mr. Lewis, and twenty other tou'ists, arrived here this evening.
