The brigantine Darcy Pratt having completed the discharge of tier coal; has cleared out for Sydney. She is to load timber at the Thames, and will take 140,000 feet. Discharging operations were briskly carried out at the ship Blenheim yesterday, and Captain Colville may be congratulated upon the splendid condition in which the packages are being landed. Yesterday early the s.s. Clansman arrived with general cargo and passengers from the North, and sailed again in the evening for Tauranga. The s.s. Wainui has Rone into the Auckland dock for a general overhaul. On Monday next H.M.s. Orlando is to be docked in the Calliope Dock. In addition to cleaning and re-painting, she is to have a new deck . laid down, and sundry other repairs. The work of docking the big warship and shoring her up is to be entrusted to Mr. G. Niccol who performed this work before. For the alterations and repairs tenders are now being invited by Capt. C. J. Barlow. At Mr. G. Niccol s yards, North Shore, the new schooner which he has been building for some time past to run in the intercolonial trade, in conjunction with the well-known trader Clansman, is rapidly approaching completion. Mr. Niccol has also started to build a smart little fore and aft schooner for some Tongan chiefs at Vavau. She is to be 60 tons, and from her lines seems as if she will be fast. She is more designed for passenger than for cargo carrying.
