SCHOOL TEACHERS' SALARIES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— your issue of the 16th ultimo appears a letter from Mr. J. Greenwood, quoting a few figures to show that teacher? in the employ of the Auckland Board ol Education are miserably paid compared with those under other Boards in the colony. My desire in writing this is to ask my fellowcommitteemen to take the trouble to look up the matter, and find out whether Mr. Greenwood's figures give a fair indication of the relative salaries, or whether he has simply " picked the eyes out " of the returns to suit his own purpose. I am satisfied that, when fairly compared with the salaries paid elsewhere, the _ Auckland teachers have, on the whole, no just cause for dissatisfaction. — am, &c., School Committeeman. Remuera, February 11,1891.
