The ordinary meeting of the Thames Drainage Board was held yesterday morning in the Insurance Buildings.' Present : Messrs. A. Brodie (chairman), W. S. Wilson, A. Porter, Comer, Clark, Frater, Spratt, and G. S. Kissling.

Report.—The manager of works reported that all the machinery had been working well, and that the engine was in good order. Some of the coal had been very slack. He had written to Mr. Smith, who promised to see the Kamo people abont it. The erection of the weighbridge had been completed. Mr. Smith expected him to give to the master of the vessel a ticket for every load of coal, and he (the foreman) would like to know whether he should do so or not. The report was received.

Purchase of Coal.On the motion of Mr. Porter, it; was decided that the coal be purchased by weight only, and that the contractor obtain a ticket, if he so wishes, on payment of an equal share of the expenses of weighing. .It was further resolved that the contractor be notified that the quality of coal sent had not been in accordance with contract specifications.

Pay-sheet. —A letter was received from the manager of works, ■ explaining the cause of the increase in the amount of the pay-sheet. The explanation was considered satisfactory. On the motion of Mr. Kissling, it was resolved that in the event of any special work being done, necessitating the employment of extra labour, the manager shall send an explanation of same with the pay-sheet. Leather.—Mr. Comer moved, and Mr. Spratbseconded, "That the chairman and Mr. Kissling be authorised to see some of the Auckland merchants in order to arrange for a supply of English leather suitable for the buckets of the pump." This resolution was carried.
