[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Ddnedin, Wednesday. At the annual meeting of the Westport Coal Company the retiring directors, the Hon. J. Miller and P. C. Noill, were reelected. In answer to a question the chairman said he estimated the loss to tho miners through the strike amounted to £30,000. ' A proposal was made at the mooting, " That it bo an instruction to the Board not .to undertake any work for the purpose of opening Granity Creek mine without the sanction of a special general meeting of the company, unless it should be found absolutely necessary to do some work in order to prevent the forfeiture of the lease." The motion was subsequently withdrawn, the mover, Mr. James Smith, saying he was informed by the chairman that in the opinion of the Board it was necessary to do .something in order to avert any attempt to forfeit the lease.
