WELLINGTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

ANNUAL REPORT. [BY TKI.KOIi.U'H. —PRIMS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington*, Tuesday. Tub annual report of the Chamber ot Commerce, to bo presented at the meeting next Monday, states that it is expected that the next session of Parliament provision will be made for the extension of the railway to the Te Aro end of the city of Wellington. Referring to the recent strikes it says the immediate effects were serious and lamentable for all classes, but the ultimate result has been to place the relations of employers and employed on a more satisfactory footing than the}' had occupied for a long time previously. The report goes on to say that the reductions recently made in the wharf charges render the charges here the lowest made at any New Zealand port when it is taken into consideration that the local charges are inclusive of all labour. The Council hope that the new Bankruptcy Bill introduced in 1880 will shortly be passed, and state that the complications of the Customs tariff continue to cause uncertainty as to the classification of imports for duty, resulting in needless annoyance to importers.
