At the Queen-street Wharf the island schooner Olive is being fitted with a new bowsprit, her old one being somewhat the worse for wear after her long service in the ffongan group. _ _ The local agents of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co. inform us that the R.M.s. Coptic, ■which is due at Wellington about March 9, will tranship her Auckland cargo at that port. , The Samoan packet Wainui was yesterday taking in timber and other cargo for her island ports. . Yesterday morning, the schooner Louie, Captain Svendsen, reached port from Lyttelton, after a fair weather passage. She brought a cargo of grain, which she is now discharging at the Queen-street Wharf. Yesterday afternoon barquentine Jessie left port for Brisbane direct with a cargo of breadstuffe. The Northern Chief has gone up to the Sugar Works to put out her coal from Newcastle. At the Customs yesterday the schooner Clansman was . entered out for Sydney via Maugonui. Captain Bushell has been appointed to the command of this vessel, vice Captain Mathews. Early yesterday the barque Essex berthed at the No. 2 Jetty, and no time was lost in beginning to put out her New York freighting of kerosene and sundries. The barque Prospect having completed her loading of flax has hauled into the stream in readiness to sail for New York.

At No. 2 Jetty the ship Leading Wind has had all her cargo of flax damaged by her recent fire and scuttling discharged, and Captain M. T. Clayton has been surveying her on behalf of the Insurance companies. Her injuries by fire are, as feared, serious, the vessel's skin being deeply burned in the forehold, while the beams of the lower deck as well as the foot of the foremast are badly charred. From the indications found it appears as if the fire had begun in two separate places, one close to the foot of the foremast and the other forward of the main hatch, but this matter is somewhat a question of opinion.

About 9.30 a.m. yesterday the s.s. Manapouri reached port from Melbourne and the South with a general cargo and a large number of passengers. She left Melbourne at 4.15 on the 27th ultimo, and arrived at Hobart on the 29th ultimo at 7 a.m. leaving again the same day at 4.45 p.m. She had light easterly and south-east winds and fine weather till her arrival at the Bluff on the Ist instant, at 6.30 p.m. Pursuing her way tip the coast she called at Dunedin on the 3rd instant, Lyttelton on the sth, Wellington on the 6th, Napier on the 7th, and Gisborne on the Bth instant, sailing the same day from the last-named place at 10.30 a.m. She had on the coast light south-east winds ami fine weather till arrival. <. * ,
