POLICE COURT.—Thursday, [Before Dr. Giles, B.M.J Drunkenness.—Three first offenders wei*3 each fined 03 and costs, or twenty-four hours' hard labour. James Evers was fined 20s and costs, or forty-eight hours' imprison-, ment Eliza McGinn, an habitual dram kard, was sentenced to three months* itch prisonment with hard labour. Breaking Windows.—Eliza McGinn wag charged with having broken three panes 0$ glass, valued at 2s 3d, the property of Ann Gamble. The prisoner pleaded guilty, and was fined 30s and costs, or (in default) fourteen days imprisonment. Youthful Criminals.William Trevarthen (aged 11J years), Jeremiah O'Brien (aged 11), and Alexander Long (aged 11) were charged with the theft of 14 sacks and 2 brushes, valued in all at 7s, the property of Charles Bishop. All pleaded guilty. The Bench sentenced each boy to receive six strokes with the birch rod, and Trevartheo to twenty-four hours' imprisonment in addition. Breaking and Entering.— Charles Burton, F. G. Draper, Andrew Cuthbertson, and James Draper, all boys, were charged with breaking and entering the dwellinghouse of Mr. E. H. Percy in Napier-street, and stealing therefrom a, piece of bacon and a piece of currant cake, the value of Is. Prisoners pleaded not guilty. On the application of SergeantMajor Pratt, the case was remanded till Monday next, as the police were in search of another lad in connection with this charge. Larceny as a Bailee.—Roberb Kurtz was charged with having, while being.a bailee of £5, the property of Edward Aikens, of Melbourne, stealing the same, on [ the 4th November last. Mr. Theo. Cooper appeared for the defence. Sergeant-Major Pratt asked for a remand for sevon days,..in order to enable the warrant to arrive from Melbourne. Mr. Cooper said the bail demanded was too large, being prisoner himself in £200, and two sureties of £100 each. He would ask that it be reduced. Dr. Giles agreed to reduce tho same by one-half. Ha had no reason to assume that other charges were pending. " False Pretences.—Michael *Tobin, aged 13 years, was charged with having unlawfully, by certain falsa pretences, obtained a box of Derby tobacco, valued at £5 7s $ the property of A. H. Nathan, on the 21st July, 1890. The case was remanded-until Tuesday next, bail being allowed .in .bwt sureties of £15 each.
