SOUTH FRANKLIN AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A miceting of the committee of the above society was held in the Masonic Hall, Pukekolie, 011 Saturday evening last, the 24th There were about a dozen members present. Mr. G Russell, the president, presided. The principal business of the evening was to nominate certain gentlemen to act as judges at the forthcoming show. This was done, with instructions to the secretary to communicate with the said gentlemen, and ascertain if they will act or not. The stewards wera also appointed to their respective classes. A letter was &;ad by the secretary from the Northern S.S. Company, kindly offering to give a free pass on their boats to anv gentlemen acting as judges at the coming snow, and I also think the New Zealand Railway Department could not do less than follow suit. I may also state that, as there were some complaints last year by fruit exhibitors about the fruit being purloined, greater protection will be given to exhibitors in this class than formerly. Several of the special prizes given by our city friends are now on view in the shop window of the secretary, Mr. R. F. Webster, Pukekohe, and no doubt when our numerous country friends come into the township and see the beautiful display of special prizes, they will cause a spirit of emulation to spring up, and a larger number will become exhibitors. The schedules and catalogues are all in readiness, and it is to be hoped the Show of March, 1891, will eclipse all its predecessors.[Own Correspondent.]
