CRICKET.
ARATAPU V. MANGAWHARE. Cricket has been rather dull during the holiday season, owing probably to the absence of certain members of teams, or the convenient times being occupied in other sports. The game is now gathering new vigour. Last Saturday the Aratapu and Mangawhare Guilds met for the second cup match. The first match was won very easily by Aratapu, but on this occasion the Mangawhare were assisted by two old players, and the tables were turned. The Mangawhare Guild ran up a total of 105 for two innings, whilst Aratapu only managed to secure So runs. The highest scorers were:—F. Matthews ("31) and F. J. Dargaville (20) for Mangawhare, and C. Nield (12) and T. Walker (10) for Aratapu. The next and final match for the season will be looked forward to with considerable interest. The cup is to be won two years in succession before becoming the property of either guild ; it was presented by Mr. F. W. Matthews, of Mangawhare.— [Own Correspondent.]
