Machinery. pHOENIX FOUNDRY, STANLEY - STREET, AU.CKLAND. I have very great pleasure in announcing to my many friends and customers, both in Auckland and throughout the Colony of Now Zealand, that, having made exceedingly favourable and satisfactory arrangements, and being now free from the heavy responsibility and liabilities which, till lately, burdened mo, I am again fairly started in my Old Works, with its entire and extensive plant (which is not 'equalled in the Colony). I take this opportunity of sincerely thanking my many friends and customers, who have kindly shown their sympathy during the troubled times I have had to pass through, like many others, during the past two years, and for their patronage during the 29 years I have carried on the ENGINEERING BUSINESS in Auckland ; and, in soliciting a continuance of their favours, I assure them that, in future, any orders entrusted to me shall still be executed in my old FIRST-CLASS STYLE AND OF THE VERY BEST MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP, And through my now favourable position, at the LOWEST POSSIBLE PRICES. My Large Stock of Valuable Patterns, which has been accumulating for more than a quarter of a century, gives me a great advantage in supplying the wants of Auckland and the Thames. SAWMILL MACHINERY. Having manufactured and fitted up Machinery for some of the largest Sawmills in the Colony, made Ileavy Planing Machines, Moulding Machines, Light and Heavy Deal Frames, as well as supplying ' ' Machinery for the smaller and less expensive mills. MARINE AND LAND ENGINES. We have made and fitted up (on board ship) Marine Engines, with Surface Condensers of considerable dimensions, also many Engines for Steam Launches (high pressure), with and without Surface Condensers ; also Land Engines of considerable dimensions, Condensing and non-Condensing. We have a powerful Steam Hammor and a Scrap Furnace, and can make any Shafts or other forgings that are likely to be required here. FLAX MACHINERY. I claim to be the inventor of this process now in use, and which has enabled Flax Dressers to produce a marketable article at a payable price, and thereby establishing an industry which has done, and now is doing, a great amount of good for our Colony. I have in course of construction an improved Flax Machine, which I invite those interested to see before ordering any new Machines. I would also draw attention to my Patent Drum Dresser, which is a simple and inexpensive Machine for dressing up the beaters on the drums now in use, and is exceedingly useful, saving file 3 and getting the beaters on the drums into a true state with a very few minutes' application. I also make duplicate parts for all Flax Machines now in use, at lowest trices. BOILER MACHINERY. Having made arrangements for the taking down of my Boiler-making Plant at Mechanics' Bay, and its re-crection in Stanley-street, and having, amongst other good Machinery, a powerful Steam Rivetting Machine, I will shortly be in a position to execute orders for either Land or Marine Boilers of any dimensions, of the latest and best construction ; and I hero again assure my customers that I will meet the requirements of the times by giving the VERY BEST OF MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP in all work that I undertake, at the lowest possible prices. MINING MACHINERY Is a department of our business which I have given special attention to. I MADE AND FITTED UP THE FIRST STAMPER BATTERY ON THE THAMES GOLDFIELD, and with it the first Single Stamper with a large Berdan attached, for crushing specimens and testing small lots of quartz, which plant was purchased from me by the Kuranui Gold Mining Company. Since then I have made and supplied many of the largest Battery plants erected on the Thames Golclfleld, and have the patterns of all sized Stamper Batteries, Berdans, etc. ; r —&—. \ \ r Fraser's Improved Grinding: and Amalgamating Mill for Gold and Silver Ores, etc. But I would here specially call the attention of all who are interested in our golflelds to my improved Mining Machinery, viz. :— FRASER'S PATENT IMPROVED CONTINUOUS GRINDING AND AMALGAMATING MILL with my registered " Silent Central Overflow," for the treatment of gold and silver ores, which will save from SO to 100 per cent, of the gold contained in the ore, and which, I feel sure, will supply the want long' felt in our goldtiolds (especially where poor ores exist, and where fine crushing is absolutely required), in fact, a cheap method whereby the gold and silver can bo separated and saved from the raw ore. By the adoption of this Mill the necessity for Copper Plates, Blanket Tables, and Berdans, with the expensive attendants, arc not required, and are entirely dispensed with. It also does away with the necessity for tailing pits and the labour attached to the emptying of them, etc. A Battery of five stamps (say, Bcwt each) and two 6ft Continuous Grinding Mills, fitted with my registered Silent Central Overflow and tho Patent Syphon and Cup for quicksilver, attached, is capable of reducing from twelve to fifteen tons of ordinary quartz in twenty-four hours to a degree of fineness far surpassing any Berdan crushing ami without any loss of quicksilver. The Stamper Box should be placed quite close to the Mills discharging direct into them. The screens on Stamper Box do not require to be finer than J-inch mesh, as the Mill quite easily reduces from that size to the greatest degree of fineness necessary. The lip of overflow is 103 inches in circumference, which allows of a large quantity of water being used without the danger of carrying away the fine gold. Each Mill is charged with from 1001b to 1501b quicksilver, and by using tho '""yphon and Cup, which 13 attached to the bottom of the Mill, the manager or superintendent can draw off at any time, without stopping the Mill, 80 per cent, of the quicksilver, and squeeze tho amalgam therefrom and return the silver to the Mill (an easy matter compared to cleaning up Copper Plates and attending to Blanket Tables). The Syphon can be boxed in and kept under lock and key. I HERE. WITHOUT HESITATION, STATE THAT MY IMPROVED MILL WILL REDUCE DOUBLE THE QUANTITY OF RAW ORE OR TAILINGS TO THE GREATEST DEGREE OF FINENESS AND SAVE MORE GOLD THAN ANY MILL OR PAN I KNOW OF. I cordially invite all Mine and Battery Owners and Managers to call at our WORKS, STANLEYSTREET, where they can see the Mill at work, and judge for themselves. • I am prepared to provide plans and give estimates of the ost of erection of simple, cheap, and effective Plants suitable for our goldfields. TESTING PLANT. I have erected at the WORKS, STANLEY-STREET, a COMPLETE TESTING PLANT, WITH LABORATORY attached, where all ores to be treated arc first crushed dry and passed through a halfinch riddle, from which samples are taken, and assays made, and the value of the ore ascertained, before it is put into the Mill, thus finding out the true percentage of gold saved by any appliances.
