THE HOSPITAL ENQUIRY.
Dr." Gilks received a communication from Wellington yesterday authorising him to proceed with the Hospital enquiry in conjunction with IV. Hasaell. He will, therefore, most probably open the proceedings at the Resideut Magistrate's Court on Monday next. An adjourned meeting of the Hospital Inquiry Committee in regard to tho aoousations made by Nurse Arnaboldi, was held at Robson's commercial dining rooms last night. Mr. Jones presided, and there wore also present : — Messrs. Phillips, Doddd, Robertshaw, Matthews, McQuftrrie, McLachlan, Goodall, Reeve, li'Aroy, T. Barton, W. Hodge, and others. Mies Arnaboldi was also present. The following telegram wile received from Mr. W. L. Hoes, M.H.R., who is engaged to appear for Miss Arnaboldi: —" Government officials holding similar appointments prejudiced judges Dr. Giles has taken public action previously. Both local men judge*. Should be strangers, unprejudiced, and not under Government control. Mitcholsou's statement should be objected to. Parliament should be asked to make inquiry. — \V. L. Reks." A letter was also received from Mr. (Jnuletone, detailing alleged conversation between Dr. Collins and himself and between Dr. Collins and his daughter, who was one of the probationer nursee of the Hospital. No action was talc en further than to endorse the steps taken by Mr. Heed, and to leave the matter in his hands.
