It is stated that Kapo and Retina are likely to be the absentees from the meeting as they were unable to be shipped at Gisborne last steamer. UNFAIR HANDICAPPING. TO THK EDITOR. SIR,— Having heard a considerable amount of dissatisfaction expressed upon the Devonport handicapping, I take the opportunity of drawing attention to Messrs. Maitland's and Hailstone's letters, for I feel sure that most of ifc will coincide with a remark contained therein. I append the weights for the hurdles allotted by Mr. Jivitt, and would ask your opinion on comparing same with Mr. Knight's. Regretting that the stewards of such an enterprising club fail to set the necessity of a more competent handicapper,—l am, etc., Another llorskowner. Hauroto, which arrived yesterday, brought up the stallion Tasman, and the brood mares Rubina, Rose and Black, and Moon ray. They are all the property of Mr. D. O'Brien, and in accordance with an agreement made with Mr. Morrin, they are to go to Wellington Park. The steeplechaser Orlando, purchased last week by Mr. D. Tonks on behalf of a Victolian turfite, is to be shipped to Sydney today by the Hauroto.
