THE R.M.S. AORANGI.
Port Chalmers, October 7.—The R.M.s. Aorangi arrived at the Heads at 5 a.m. from Plymouth, via Capetown and Hobart. She brings 1953 tons cargo, 135 passengers, 240 bags mails, and 23 cases parcels post. Her passage has been an uneventful one, no births or deaths having occurred. She commenced to discharge vith no.i-union labour, her cargo being received into railway trucks by only men belonging to the goods department. The personnel of her officers is unchanged. Her dates are : Plymouth, August 25; Teneriffe, 28; Capetown, September 13; Hobart, October 3. At the latter port she landed 53
passengers and 238 tons of cargo. The passengers for Auckland are Saloon : Mr. A. E. Gilmour. Second cabin : Mr. and Mrs. S. Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. T. Sherwood, Misses E. A. Bennett, J. A. Bennett, J. J. Lear, THE R.M.S. COPTIC. VVklungton, October 24.— R.M.s. Coptic arrived at 3 o'clock to-day, after an uneventful passage. She left London on September 4. Plymouth on the (3th, Tenerifle on the 11th, the Cape on the 28th, and Hobart on October 19. At the Cape she had no communication with the shore, owing to small-pox having broken out there. Oil the 2Sth inst. a steerage passenger for Wellington, named Caroline A. Ashdown, died of cerebral apoplexy, and was buried at sea. Mr. G. Wright, late of the R.M.s. Bekic, comes as chief officer, having succeeded Air. Lindsay, who has joined the navy for twelve months' drill. The Coptic brings two liens of live partridges, consigned to Lord Onslow.
