FATAL MINING ACCIDENT.

[BY TKLKQRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Hokitika, Wednesday. A fatal accident occurred at Woodstock this morning. A well known miner, Wm. Pearson, was killed, and his brother Thomas seriously injured. The Litter was ;it the face, and deceased was timbering the tunnel. It is thought that in driving home the Laths struck the cap-piece, and the roof caved in from the surface. Thomas Pearson got jammed in the slabs and wash-dirt, and saw daylight above and called out. He succeeded in attracting the notice of his son and was gut our. ahve, though considerably crushed. William Pearson was brought to the surface an hour or two afterward?, quite dead. His breastbone and ribs on the left side were crushed in.
