The Mining Exhibition closes on October 1, the directors of the Crystal Palace at Sydenham, where the Exhibition is held, being unable to let the building bill the end of the year. FOOLISH CANARDS. London, September 18. The reported foundering of the Austrian warship Taurus in the Black Sea, and the drowning of a number of the crew was a canard, as the vessel is safe at Constantinople. Ottawa, September 17. The Montreal reporter who invented the story of Prince George's arrest in a street quarrel has been committed for trial. THE SHAW, SAVILL, ALBION COMPANY. London, September 18. The Shaw, Savill, Albion Company declare a dividend of 5 per cent.
