/ Wellington, Thursday. Thk falowing candidates are regarded as pretty certain to go to the poll for election of thitee members to represent Wellington in Parliament : —Messrs. H. D. Bell, T. Carter, John Duthie, F. H. Fra«er, T. K. McUbnald, William McLean, A. A. S. Mecteath, C. R. Willeston, G. Fisher, and E. /. Jellicoe. The other names mentioned as Ikely candidates are Messrs. J. R. Blair and C. F. Worth. NAPtKn, Thursday. Mr. J. Gannon, of Gisborne, has announced his candidature for Napier in the liberal in teres!.. It is stated that Mr. Orrtond is anxious to retire from public life, but his friends are urging him to st-»nd. Chhistohl'rch, Thursday. A mass meeting of the men on strike in Lyttelton wae bold this afternoon, attended by 500. A committee was appointed to take steps to return a labour candidate to Parliament. Ditnkdin, Thursday. The Trades and Labour Committee offers to icb in connection with one from the Maritime Council to chose labour candidates for nomination at the general election.
