SCENE IN THE SIDNEY
ASSEMBLY.
AN EDITOR AT THE BAR. Prest Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.
[Beceired September 5, J. 16 a.in.]
Sydney, September 4. A scene took place in the House of Assembly this evening, when the editor of the recently-established weekly newspaper was summoned before the House for stating in his paper that several members of the House had been bribed to pass the Broken Hill Water Supply Bill. One member stated that he had been offered a bribe, and the editor asserted that the information contained in the article was true, but at the same time he declined to mention the names of members to whom the bribes had beenoffered.
The House this evening is discussing the motion to discharge the matter oil the Order Paper.
