BANKRUPTCY.
R. C. Cark.—A meeting of the creditors of R. C. Car v was held yesterday, to consider what action should be taken in regard to the debtor's furniture and effects. Mr. Lawsoti, who presided, said that ulie value of the furniture and effects at t'.ie disposal of the creditors, after allowing Mr. Carr £25 worth, was £327 6s Id. This was entirely in the hands of the private creditors, because the firm's creditors could come in only after the payment Oi.' 20s in the £1 to the private estate. On the motion of Mr. W. Aitl ceil, it was resolved, 11 That the debtor be allowed to retain hir household furniture and effects to the valuj of £327 6s Id, as per Mr. Dacre's inventory, and that the Ollicial Assignee be authorised to execute the necessary deeds to transfer the said furniture and effects to Mr. Carr."
Tonks and Co.—The creditors of Tonks and Co. held a special meeting yesterday afternoon. Mr. Lawson said the meeting had been called to consider the disposal of the furniture of the debtors. Mr. Carr had been granted his furniture in his separate estate, and that had accordingly been settled. Mr. Tonks' furniture had been purchased as a present to his wife by her father. The creditors resolved to allow the debtor to retain the furniture. A discussion ensued regarding the claim of Mr. and Mrs. Jones against the estate for rent. Mr. Nathan opposed the claim, and said it ought not to have been made. The OHicial Assignee was instructed to compromise the matter on the best terms possible. The following resolution was also unanimously adopted:—"That the Ollicial Assignee be instructed to facilitate as far as possible the bankrupt's discharge."
