TRADE AND LABOUR COUNCIL AND WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] WELLINGTON, Su iiday. A meeting of the Federated Trade and Labour Council was held last nitrht, to discuss the tramway difficulty. It will be remembered that the employees went out some time since, demanding 7'2 hours per week for grooms, and 60 for drivers, guards, etc. The proprietors now offer 7hours per week all round, and Sunday work (if any) is to be paid for at the rate of time and a-half. They also undertake that all "blacklegs" at present in the employ are to be discharged. The ouncil recommended the men to accept these terms, and, in all probability, the men will be reinstated by Friday, the 1-t of August. It is understood that the foregoing proposals will be brought about through a third gentleman buying into the tramway proprietorship.
