<t> THE ASCOT MEETING. Press Association. —Elect ne Telegraph. — Copyright. London, June 21. At Ascot yesterday the Alexandra Plato was won by Nethoravon, Philomel being second, and Testator, third. AUCKLAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION. The first meeting of the newly-formed Trotting Association was held on Saturday afternoon at Potter's Paddock, Epsom, and a good programme of six events was curried through without a hitch. Mr. A. Harris officiated as judge, Mr. J. Wattie as starter, Mr. O. C. .Met ieeas cleric of the course, and Mr. F. Btirtt as clerk of the scales. There was a fair attendance, and the weather although somewhat chilly was fine. Two totalizators were worked conjointly, and were fairly patron* ised, the price of tickets being reduced to 10s. The Newton band, under bandmaster John West, perfot rued a line programme of musical .selections during the afternoon. The following arc the results of the races :— Maiden Handicap Trot, of SOsovs, second horse to receive ssovs from stake. For all horses that have never won an advertised trotting race. Two miles. Mr. C. M. Best's b m Bess, 255. (Kinlock) 1 Mr. A. Guy's bg Our Hoy, 205., (Harford) 2 Mr. G. Wilson's win Blueskin, 255. ... .'! Mr. Ofcway'a Dick started from scratch, and six others started. Bess led the whole way, and won easily by four lengths, after a very pretty and exciting contest for the greater part of the distance. Dividend, on 10s tickets, £7 Bs. Sn.i.iNi: Trot of tfsovs. Winner to be sold for losovs immediately after the race. If entered to be sold for lOsovs, 15s. allowed ; if for 08ovs, .'sos.; and if for nil, 455. Two miles and a-half. Contempt, Dolly, and Toujour also ran. Lottery was the favourite, and won somewhat easily at the finish by two lengths from Antic, a length separating the second and third horses. Dividend, £1 10s. Handicap Trot of 40sovs ; second horse to receive ssovs from the stake. Three miles. Mr. J. Otwav's g m Nellie, scratch (Martin) ... ..' 1 Mr. C. M. Best's b m Bess, SOsec (Kinloch) _ 2 Mr. \V. Bess led for the first round, followed by Jessie and Our Boy, and when the stand was reached the second time the relative positions of the leaders were unaltered, but Nellie had come up so strongly that she was then fourth, and gaining rapidly on the leaders. On the final round Nellie took a long lead, and came in the easiest of winners amidst loud cheering. The favourite Sultan was never prominent. Dividend, £5 4s. Handicap Puny Hurdlks of 20sovs., second pony to receive ssovs from the stake. For Ponies 14.2 and under. _ Over six flights of hurdles. One and a-half miles. Mr. G. dime's Minnie Gray, Bst 21b (Owner) 1 Mr. VV. Greenwood's br g Pica, 9sfc (Fletcher) 2 Mr. J. C. Booth's b g Tiger No. 2, 7st 101b (Collins) 3 Antic (Sst 101b), Ingersoll (Sst), Defiance (7st 121b), Gamecock (7st 101b), and Dolly (7s 71b) also started. The start was by no means a good one, and Antic was first away. He led to the first hurdle, with Dolly close up, but here Dolly baulked, and Minnie Gray taking command, led past the stand, followed by Tiger and Antic, but Minnie Gray was never headed, and won by a length. Dividend, £3 10s. Handicap Pony Trot of lOsovs; for ponies 14.2 and under. Two miles. Mr. J. Wilson's w m Blueskin, 335. ... 1 Mr. H. Robertson's b m Polo, 35s 2 Mr. J. Ofcway's gg Dick 5s 3 Maud S. (scratch), Boots (255.), Little Tom ("iris), Jay-eye-See (355.), and Bones (355.), also ran. It was nearly dark when this race was run. Polo was the favourite, but Blueskin, which was also well backed, won easily. Dividend, 12 7s. This concluded the races, and the public quickly made their way to the tram cars which were waiting to convey them back to town.
