LEPROSY AMOMG THE NATIVES.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Gisborne, Friday. A gentleman at Hokianga writes to a friend here : —'' My brother was North a few days ajro on a vaccination tour at Herekino, and be reports an outbreak of leprosy at Herekino amongst the natives, several of whom died from it. Others are in a fearful state. 'I helr lingers and toes rot off; their nose, t-.eth, and jaws are corroding, and their l''".tifs are rotten. He has reported the ii; ittijr to the Government. Strange to say it got this length before we heard of it. The natives are scared, and avoid each other. Timoti Puhipi recommends the 1- per- being deported to the Three Kings i-:l,md."
