LICENSING MEETINGS.

NEWMARKET. The annual meeting of 'the Newmarket Licensing Committee was held yesterday morning at the Public Hall, when there were present—Messrs. John Lumpkin (chairman), John Randall, Wm. Edgerley, R. R. Holtries, and Mr. Stoney, the clerk of the Court. Constable Cotter appeared on behalf of the police, who reported favourably on all the houses. Renewals of licences wre granted to Edward Darby, for the Captain Cook Hotel; to Mary Jane Griffiths, for the Carlton Club Hotel; to -iohn Lynch, for the Newmarket Hotel ; a',id to W. W. Warnock, for the Royal George Hotel. The privilege allowed last year of extinguishing lights at ten p.m. was again granted to all the houses. EDEN TERRACE. , The Eden Terrace Licensing Committee held their annual meeting yesterday at the office of the Eden Terrace Road Board. Present : Messrs. A. Porter (chairman), J. J. Jenkins, J. H. Garrett, and A. Williams. The application of Louis Ballin for a rerwwal of the license of the Eden Vine Hotel was granted. Constable Dewes, who represented the police, reported favourably of the condition of the hotel. TAMAKI WEST. The annual meetings of the Tamaki West Licensing Committee was held yesterday, at the Road Board office, Panmure. Present: The Chairman (Mr. William Gavin), and Messrs. Cleary and Donnelly, with the clerk (Mr. Seaman). The renewal of the of the St. Heliers Hotel to Robert Y\ . lhoipe was granted. An application was received from Edward Rodgers for the renewal of the license of the Panmure HoteL Ihe clerk introduced the plans, which he had received from Mr. Ehrenfried, for a new building which was proposed to be erected to take the place of this hotel. The plans were approved, and the license was renewed, on she condition that the new building was erected. Archibald Fleming applied for a renewal of the license of the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel. The committee adjourned their decision on this application as the report of the police was not considered satisfactory. THAMES. The annual meeting of the licensing committees for the Thames borough were held yesterday, when renewals were granted for all existing licenses.
