MANGERE FARMERS' CLUB.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above club was held 011 Monday evening, the'2nd June, in the Mungere Hall, the president (Mr. W. F. Massey) in the chair. The following new members were proposed : —Messrs. .1. Short, Adams, Kelly, and Arthur Aihken. Proposed by Mr. Thomson, seconded by Mr. John. Massey, " That the Mangere Farmers' Club hold a show next season." An amendment proposed by Mr. M. Kirkbmla, and seconded by Mr. Robert Wallace, " That the holding of an agricultural show be deferred until the next meeting of the club, and that this be notified in tho next advertisement as the special business of the meeting." It was proposed and seconded, " That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Mr. Melville, secretary, wlio now tendered his resignation in consequence of leaving this district for the Waikato." It was unanimously agreed that Mr. Melville be suitably remunerated for his valuable services to the club. Upon the motion of Mr. Hubbard, seconded by Mr. Robert Wallace, it was agreed "That tho services of Mr. M. Kirk bride be secared as secretary." This was much approved of by the members present, Mr. Kirkbride consenting. Some discussion here ensued in reference to tho farmers of. this club procuring their seed, wheat, and oats from the South. The subject of the small bird nuisance was fully discussed, when it was decided that on Monday, the 9th June, all members of tills club pledge themselves to sow a certain quantity of poisoned grain to abate this nuisance. Some farmers present hoped that this woukl be the means of checking the evil to some extent, and hoped that neighbouring farmers, who are of the same opinion, would co-operate.
