FEROCIOUS PRIZE-FIGHT.
Details of a prize-fight, probably unexampled for brutal ferocity and total disregard of all the rules of science and fair play, leaked out at Wigan a few days ago. The combatants were two noted wrestlers in the Lancashire style named Moran, alias Bulpor, of Wigan, and Haigh, of Standish. With the exception of short trousers and clogs, the men were quite naked ; but in the first round, which was as much of a tugging and kicking as of a, boxing character, their trousers were torn almost in pieces, and the remainder of the fight was conducted with clogs as the only semblance of clothing. These they used upon each other with siokening effect, their bodies being seamed and scarred and gashed in all directions. Eventually the Standish man was declared the winner of the stakes, and his opponent was carried to a neighbouring inn in a state of collapse.
