BANKRUPTCY.
DEBTOR'S EXAMINATION.
John B. Birlev, drill instructor unci caretaker at the Auckland College and Grammar School, having become bankrupt, was examined yesterday by the Official Assignee. He attributed his bankruptcy to losses he sustained in connection with a luncheon room for the boys of the school, and to the exorbitant interest he had to pay for money which he had to borrow. His furniture, over which there was a bill of sale, was sold at a sacrifice for £28, leaving him indebted for £41 l'2s lid, and ho was ordered by the Court to pay this amount or go to gaol, and as he could not comply with the order ho filed. His debts were £100 10s 9d, aiTd he had no assets.
