THE FISHERIES DISPUTE.
St. John's, May 27. Excited meetings have been held throughout Newfoundland, at which resolutions were carried denouncing British neglect with regard to the fisheries. Large numbers of residents are leaving for the mainland. An address, couched in violent terms, has been drawn up for transmission .to the Queen. Paris, May 28. The French officials anticipate an easy settlement of the Newfoundland fishery dispute. St. John's, May 28. A British warship has closed the British lobster factory in St. George's Bay. Sixteen thousand colonial fishermen on the " French Shore" have petitioned Her Majesty the Queen on the matter.
