SUPREME COURT PROCEEDINGS.

Christchurch, Wednesday. At the Supreme Court, James Henry Roberts, said to be a brother of Jonathan Roberts, was sentenced to three years' penal servitude for false pretences. James Holmes was found guilty of forging and uttering, and sentenced to twelve months' hard labour. Josiah White was found guilty of fraudulent bankruptcy and sentenced to six months' hard labour. W. King pleaded guilty to stealing £23 from a Maori and was sentenced to fifteen months' hard labour. W. Piggott, accused of complicity in the same case, was acquitted. Wellington, Wednesday The criminal calendar contains fourteen charges against thirteen accused. The list i* rather heavy, containing cases of rape, forgery, perjury, stabbing, burglary, and wounding.
