BOARD OF EDUCATION

The usual meeting of the Board of Education took place yesterday afternoon. Present : The chairman (Mr. Udy), Messrs. J. W. Carr, Goldie, Luke, Lennox, Moat, Upton, Monk. Chairman's Report.—Tenders have been invited for erection of teacher's dwelling at Oliinewai as authorised by Board. Hukerenui South committee report school temporarily closed owing to disease among children. Committee of Kaitaia asked to supervise school at Awanui. Following temporary arrangements have been made : —Mr. Naughton to Manga and Kaitaia half-time schools during absence of teacher; Mr. Lowe to take charge of the Waipu North School during absence of teacher ; Mr. Hall to remain at Kauaeranga Boys' School until after standard examination in June. Leave of absence was granted to a number ot teachers.

Election op School Committees. — A communication was received from Ardmore as to whether a lodger had a right to vote or was recognised as a householder occupier. It was decided to inform the parties that a lodger had no vote in the election of school

committees. It was decided in the case of ■ Ohinemuri that the Board did not see sufficient cause for upsetting the election. PtracA. — grant of £20 was asked for towards building a school at Purua (Rnatangata). The Board decided that it could not see its way towards establishing a schooL Wairoa South.—Agreed to roof dwelling with iron and add two rooms. MAYFiEiiD. —It was announced a site had been selected on whieh a sefaool should be built. —Mahurangi Heads Committee authorised to repair boat for use of teacher out of school fund. Authorised fencing of school ground, YVhan&naki. Tau ho a. — letters for and against removal of school to another site forwarded, to the committee. ' . Whangamarino.—School to be taught as a half-time school. Appointments.—Mr. R. D. Reid to Albertland North; Mrs. M. Stowe to Waipu North. _____
