MR. CADMAN AT PARAWAI.
[BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] Thames, Thursday. There was a good attendance at Parawai schoolroom, to-night, when Mr. Cadman, M.H.K., addressed the electors. Mr. E. F. Tizard presided. Mr. Cad man's speech dealt principally with the Acta passed and measures introduced dining the last session. He referred to the recently formed branches of the Miners' Union at the Thames, Coromandel, and Paeroa, and expressed the opinion that if properly and judiciously arranged by tho officers, they would become a great power for good. He also pointed out at length the various ways in which several matters affecting the welfare of the mining industry might be improved, and in reference to the gold duty, thought it should be made permissive. With respect to granting certificates to mine managers, he was of opinion that they should be graded, in a similar manner to school teachers. In concluding, Air. Cadman mentioned that at the next general election ho intended to be a candidate for the Thames electorate. Ho received a hearty vote of thanks and confidence.
