WAIROA RANGERS' FOOTBALL CLUB.
At the invitation of Miss M. Munro and Miss J. Sutherland and a ladies' committee, a social party to the number of about 30 couples assembled in the Wairoa Public Hall on Friday evening, the 16bh hist. At eight p.m. dancing was commenced, and kept up with spirit until near midnight, when Mr. T. P. F., in a neat speech, intimated that on behalf of the abovemeutioned ladies and their friends he had the pleasure of making a presentation of a banner to the Wairoa Rangers Football. Mr. J. Luke (captain of the club) responded, thanking the ladies very much for the beautiful colours and staff. The banner is very pretty indeed, made of black and blue satin, and suspended on a beautiful brass mounted rod and pole. In the centre of the banner is a monogram and W.R.F.C. in gold letters. Captain Luke called for three cheers for the ladies, and three cheers for the flag, which were given amidst great applause- Dancing was resumed, and kept up until the " wee sma' hours" of the morning.— Correspondent, May 21].
