London, May 15. The Australians began a match to-day at West bury against Mr. XV. H. Laton's team. The weather was wet. The local men lost five wickets for 76 runs, including Grace, 15. The innings of Lavertona Eleven closed for 141. In the first innings of .Laverton's Eleven Raw made 19, and Peel 20. Turner took four wickets for 80 runs, and Ferris six for 58. In their first innings the Australians have lost nine wickets for Go runs. Lohmann and Briggs bowled splendidly, the latter taking six wickets. After the recent rain the wicket was difficult for batsmen. The Australians fielded badly, but that of the local team was excellent.
