BANKRUPTCY.
MEETING OF CREDITORS. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Thomas Richards, bootmaker, was held at: the office of the Official Assignee, Queenstreet, on Saturday morning. Present, the* debtor and his solicitor Mr. Thome. Creditors, Messrs. Bull, Tewsley (for Sargood, and Co., Parker, Green, and Co.), Hudson, Ireland Brothers, H. Campbell (for Davy). The debtor was examined by Mr. Campbell, and stated as follows: — never kept; any account of my stock on hand. I took stock last about eleven months ago, when'l valued it at about £100. No stock was taken away except in the ordinary way of business until the trustees took possession. No goods were brought into the shop after the assignment. I paid no money into the bank after February 10. I paid the cash receipts after February 10 to the trustees. I have no land or other property than that disclosed in my schedule. I had some land at the North Shore, which I disposed of last November twelve months. I had other land, but being unable to complete the purchase, lost about £156 by forfeiting the deposit. I took this £158 out of my "business. The total amount of purchase money agreed to be paid was £280 or £290. I never gob a title to the land. The land at the North Shore cost £200, Isold if for £175 to Foster, and gob paid subject to a mort-i gage of £50. The payment was made in l goods by Foster. There was no agreement! in writing between Foster and myself. I signed a transfer to Foster at the time the-i land was gold. Foster rendered a statement of accounts between us from time to time. There are about six of these stataments on my file which can be produced. It was agreed that the debtor should be further privately examined and another meeting of creditors be called, if necessary Mr. Tewsley then moved,, "That the acts of the trustees be confirmed on their rendering full accounts to the Official Assignee, and that the commission and cost 3 incurred by them in respect of the assignment be paid." This motion was seconded Mr. Campbell, and carried.
