THE CREWE MURDER.
Richard Davies, the elder of tho two prisoners in Knutsfordgaol on the charge of murdering their father on the highway near Crewe, has written a letter to his mother, entreating her to speak the actual truth as to tho treatment she and the family received from tho murdered man. The prisoner Richard stated that they determined to murder their father because of his bad treatment of his wife and family, who, he added, were nearly starved. The widow in her evidence stated that everything was comfortable at homo, and the family lived happily together. Richard denies this, and asks his mother to say truly the state of affairs that existed in their home. The two prisoners having confessed the murder, Richard is anxious to have this put before the court as some extenuation of the crime.
