At. to-day's sitting of the University Senate it was decided to prepare a return of the number of candidates offering themselves for examination in music since the establishment of the University. April 8 was fixed as the date for receiving applications of candidates for honours. Mr. Maurioe Wilson, Richmond, 8.5., London, was admitted to the same degree ad eundum. A telegram has been received by the Chancellor giving a summary of the results of the examinations. The Senate's committee reported that the following have passed the medical provisional examination :—First examination: William Griffen, K. Maccadam, M. Campbell, E. Gunn. Second examination : E. J. Roberts, W. Butemen, R. H. Hogg, J. T. Menzies. Third examination (entitling to degree of Bachelor of Medicine): W. A. Chappell, W. Hislop, P. R. Cook, E. E. Tookes, W. J.; Mulden. The committee recommended that the degree Doctor of Medicine be conferred on T. W. Bell, although the course he followed appeared in some particulars to have been informal. In the case of W. L. Christie, the committee recommended that a degree be conferred. The committee also recommended that in the case of first and second professional examinations, candidates who failed may, on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners, be allowed to come up again for examination within six months; but in all cases candidates must take up all subjects laid dojvn in the statute ; and that the fee for Such second examination be five guineas. The Senate adopted the report. The next meeting of the Convocation will be held at Duneain on January 21.
