ABANDONING AN ADOPTED CHILD.

A PECULIAR CASE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, Tuesday. A peculiar case was heard at the R.M. Court to-day. A married couple named Eliason were charged with abandoning an illegitimate child which they had agreed to adopt on the payment of £5 each by the fr.ther and mother. A deed under the Adoption of Children Act had been drawn up and signed. One of the payments was in arrears, and they took the child to where the mother was working and left it. The Bench ordered them to take back the child and pay costs.
