WINDY WELLINGTON.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir., —Our empire city is famous for its blowing proclivities, and, true to its traditions, it now insists upon blowing itself forth 113 having founded the colouy, and not Wellington alone. It lays its claim because they say there arrived the first settlers of th& colony. What constitutes the first settlers 2 Why those who arrived at Wellington in 1840; and why not those who were settled long prior to that date at the Bay of Islands, at Coromandel harbour, and many other seaports ? Let them celebrate the foundation of their own city as much as they please, but it will take more tlian a Wellington puff of wind, strong as the puffs there are, to blow home to the colony that its foundation must be dated from the landing of tho first Wellingtonians. Ivororareka was a longestablished place before Wellington was ever thought of.— am, &c., Months (of Wellington) Parturient Ridicules Mus Nascitok.
