EXECUTIVE COM MITT UK : Chairman —A. Bell, I'v], C. C. McMillan, Esq., J.P. R. W. Moody, Esq., J.P. Jas. Rus;Kill, Esq. Samuel Vaile, Esq. Ofi'ici: of the League: nOBSON'S BUILDINGS, SHORTLANDSTREET, AUCKLAND. The object of the League Is to obtain such a rectification of the system of management as will mure effectually knit the country producing districts with the centres of industry and population, and both with the outlets of trade. The following are the principal points which it has as yet adopted as its platform, viz.: — 1. The total abolition of differential rating. 2. Tho abolition of mileage rating, and the sub. stiution of a stage system. 3. The stage system adopted must be of such a nature as to give special facilities to districts and settlers far removed from a market. 4. A reduction in tho charges for tho convey. ance of passengers and goods. |j. A simplification in the classification of goods. U. A simplification and amalgamation of terminal, weighing, cranage, and other charges. In seeking a reformation in the administration of our Railways, all sections of tho community can unite, for all are equally interested. It is therefore confidently hoped that the League will command that amount of public support and co-operation which the vast importance of its aims entitles it to expect, and that all who have the true interests of the country at heart will actively assist the committee. Funds will be required to carry on the work. The amount of entrance subscription fixed for the Auckland League is not less than five shillings (ss); it is, howover, not intended to limit subscriptions to this amount, and several members have subscribed £5 5s each to its funds. Tho committee will bo happy U> receive subscriptions from all who are interested in its objects, even from such as may not desire to enrol themselves as members. Subscriptions and donations may be sent to the Treasurer, at the league's office. .Please cross cheques and money orders " Colonial Bank." The roll of members is at the otiice of the League, and ladies and gentlemen wishing to join cau do so either peisonally or by letter. Auckland, 10th September, 1889.
