London, October 15. Vice-Admiral John Erskine Baird, of the Channel Squadron, and RearAdmiral Tracey, have been instructed to proceed to Berlin to return the Emperor William's visit to the British fleet at Kiel.
THE LONDON BAKERS. London, October 75. The employees of the London bakers at a mass meeting to-day decided to demand 60 hours as a week's work, and any time beyond that to be paid for as overtime. Unless their demand is ; granted, they say they will go on, strike.
THE CHARGE AGAINST AN EARL. London, October 14. The Earl of Galloway, who was committed on acharge of assaulting a girl, stood his trial to-day, when he was acquitted.
STRIKE OF TRAMCAR CONDUCTORS. London, October 14. A strike has taken place among the tramway men at Cardiff, because the punches used caused ex£ra labour.
THE BAPTIST UNION.
London, October 14. The Baptist Union has passed a resolution in favour of the amalgamation of the J' Particular" and "General" Baptists into one church.
THE BRISTOL GASMEN.
London, October 14. The demands of the Bristol gasmen have been conceded, and work has been resumed.
A CHURCH DESTROYED BY FIRE.
New York, October 14. The Rev. Mr. Talmage's Tabernacle has been burnt down.
OUT OF GAOL.
London, October 14 Mr. C. A. V. Conybeare, M.P. for Camborne, who was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for aiding and abetting the Plart of Campaign, was released to-day. His constituents to the number of 10,000 celebrated the occasion with a great ovation.
SIR CHARLES DILKE AT BRADFORD. London, October 14. Sir C. Dilke, speaking at Bradford, condemned the partition of Afghanistan. He considered Home Rule was a trivial question compared with tb. interests of the colonial dependencia of Great Britain.
THE DOCK STRIKE FUNDS.
London, October 14. The accountant employed to audit Mr. Burns' accounts has certified that the money has been honestly disbursed.
THE LONDON TRADE UNIONS.
London, October 14. The various Trade Unions will federate under the renovated London Council.
SIR. CHAMBERLAIN. London, October 14. Mr. Chamberlain is on a visit to Egypt.
