Received September 11,1.30 a.m. THE SUD-EST GOLDFIELD. Brisbane, September 10. Fearful reports are coining to hand of sickness at the Sud-est Goldlields in New Guinea. COLONIAL DEFENCE. Brisbane, September 10. The Premier is endeavouring to promote a conference of military officers of the different colonies to meet MajorGeneral Edwards and discuss the united organisation of the colonial forces. ROBBERY UNDER ARMS. Sydney, September 10. Two armed men near Orauge captured seven travellers, and, having bound them, stole all their money and valuables. After a detention of j two hours the travellers were released. One of the men has been arrested. GREAT HEAT. Sydney, September 10. An extraordinary hot day has been experienced throughout the colony. Yesterday was the hottest day that has occurred in the month of September for thirty years. THE DUNEDIN DREDGE. Melbourne, September 10. Arrived : The Otago Harbour Board dredge, which lias been leased by the Melbourne Board. SHIPPING. Sydney, September 10. Sailed: Hauroto and Jubilee, for Wellington.
