TO TH EDITOR. Sir,—The announcement in the Herald this morning of the changes in the directorate of the Bank of New Zealand, eo far as regards Mr. John McLean: and myself, are so different to the actual facts that I cannot allow ib to pass without remark. The reasons for our retirement are well known to both the directors and Mr. Murray, and have simply reference to certain matters connected with the Bank's affairs generally, which we shall be only too glad to explain to the shareholders at the first) convenient opportunity.—l am, &c, August 31, ISM.
