EXECUTION OF A MURDERER.
James Morrison vma executed at Darlinghurst on August 20 for the murder of Constable Sutherland, who attempted to arrest him on suspicion of burglarious intentions at Potts Point, on June 3. Morrison, who was a young man, and is said to have been born atLilydale, Victoria, preserved a quiet demeanour ever since he was condemned to death, and during- the last few days he expressed himself thoroughly contrite and resigned to his fate. He walked from his cell on to the scaffold with a firm step, and showed no signs of faltering at any stage. After the priest had spoken the last words of the burial service, the executioner promptly performed his duty, and death appeared to bo instantaneous.
