The SPORTS OF THK FIELD AND TURF are fully chronicled, and attention is devoted to the pleasant and interesting games of CHESS and DRAUGHTS.
As a FAMILY JOURNAL and GENERAL NEWSPAPER the NEWS ranks equally high, and the greatest care ia exercised to maintain the whole some tone and character of its reading matternothing that is offensive to good taste or cherished convictions baing admitted to its columns.
It contains a WEKKLY HISTORY OF THE NEWS OF THK WORLD, and SPECIAL CONTRIBUTIONS on a wide range of subjects from the facile pens of accomplished writers.
Its SERIAL TALES are of absorbing iufcerest, and are contributed by some of the foremost novelists of the day.
A SERMON by an eminent divine, or some well selected SUNDAY RISADINa, is also published each week.
