Hall and Co. The heal agents of the New Zealand Shipping Co. have received advice from London to the effect that the clipper ship Piako, Captain Sutherland, sailed for this port prior to May 23:h. Yesterday the brigantine Oamaru was floated into the Auckland Dock for the purpose of receiving a general overhaul. The a moan steamer Wainui went down to Drunken Bay yesterday and had her compasses adjusted, returning to port and berthing at No. jetty in the afternoon. On the oth instant the barque diaries Bal sailed from Haapai with a full load of copra for Europe on account of Messrs. McArthur and Co. Though she lost four days on her outward trip, owing to detention at Capetown for repairs to her propeller, the R M.s. Ruapehu •will leave Wellington on her time-table date for London, and already a number of passengers have engaged berths. The inward passengers by the steamer will be brought up by the s.s. Wanaka on Thursday. The Union Co. s s.s. Wanaka was yesterday busily engaged in transhipping the balance of her Newcastle coal into one of the hulks, and in the evening she left in ballast for < Jreymout'n. At the Queen-street Wharf the s.s. Manapouri, from Sydney, was rapidly discharging her mixed freight yesterday. The barque Simeon, recently in Auckland from New York, arrived at Apia on the 17th instant from Newcastle with coal, and was discharging into H.M. s. Rapid. She was to proceed to Tonga, and put out the balance of her " black diamonds" in preparation for loading copra there for the United Kingdom. The direct steamer Kaikoura, which was at the Cape on the 24th instant, will make Wellington her first New Zealand port, and then come 011 here. She is expected in Auckland about June 22.
On May 13, the barque Arnold von Bippcn, Captain Muller, hence on May 4, arrived at Tonga, and was transhipping copra from the schooner Olive prior to proceeding to Haapai. to fill up oil behalf of Messrs. McArthur and Go.
Yester lay morning, at eight o'clock, the Union S.S. Company's Waihora reached port from Melbourne via Hobart and the South, bringing a number of passengers and a freighting of grain and sundries. Mr. R. Guy, the purser, reports that the vessel left Dunedin at 4 p.m. on the 22nd, and arrived at Lyttelton the following morning at 8.30. Leaving again on the morning of the '24th, at 2 o'clock, she made fast to Wellington wharf at 4.40 p.m. .She proceeded northwards at 4 p.m. on the 25th, called at Napier and Gisborne, and arrived in Auckland as above. She met with line weather and light variable winds from Dunedin to Gisborne; thence to arrival strong N.W. winds.
