R.M. COURT.—Tuesday. [Before Dr. Giles, R.M.] Humphreys v. Williamson'.—A sitting of the R.M. Court was held yesterday in the Resident Magistrate's room (the Court being occupied by the Board of Reviewers) to hear this case, which was a claim for wages. Mr. Brassey appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. H. Campbell for the defence. Tho plaintiff to the action, James Humphreys, was a stable boy, and the defendant, J. B. Williamson, a trainer of racehorses, and the action was brought to recover a sum of £11 5s for wages due at the rate of 15s per week. Defendant denied that he had agreed to pay more than 7s 6d a-week, and he paid several sums to plaintiff, leaving a balance due to him of 10s, which he had paid into Court. After hearing the evidence, judgment was given for defendant with costs.

POLICE COURT.—Tuesday. [Before Mr. Clendon, 11. M.] Drunkenness. — William Joughin was punished for a second offence. Larceny.—George White pleaded guilty to stealing an overcoat, the property of Walter Smith, on tho ISth instant. Inspector Broham said the coat was taken from the shed attached to Mr. Smith's bakery premises, and Mr. Smith subsequently saw the prisoner wearing it. A sentence of two months' imprisonment with hard labour was imposed.
