PRISON LABOUR ON PUBLIC WORKS.

[by TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Friday. A deputation of Wellington citizens waited on the Minister of Justice this morning for the purpose of getting a road across tho head of Evans' Bay. They suggested that the work could be done very cheaply by employing prison labour. The Hon. Mr. Fergus said that there was work enough for prison labour for two years to come. He could not, thereforo, assist the deputation in that way.
