Parliament meets on June 20. The bumble bee has found its way to Invercargill. The Canadian debt, with five millions of people, is but £47,000,000. The "Switchback Railway" is receiving a fair share of public patronage. Bishop Luck is expected in Hamilton on the 16th instant, to hold the sacrament of confirmation. The Rev. 11. Ball, of Blenheim, and formerly of Auckland, has been seriously ill, but is now recovering. A free library, for the use of sailors trading along the coast, has been established at Gisborne by Mr. W ittv. _ Four persons were punished at the Police Court, yesterday morning, for drunkenness. Dr. Giles presided. The public debt of Australia, which has been piled up only within the last 30 years, now exceeds £160,000.000. Mr. G. Fisher, ex-Minister of Education, arrived at Wanganui on Monday night, and left again for Wellington yesterday.
