DEATH SENTENCE COMMUTED. Sydney, May 7. The youth Madden, who was sentenced to death for attempting to poison a man named Fosgrove, at Glen tnnes, has had. his sentence commuted to ten years' penal servitude. DEATH OF MR. ORMOND. Melbourne, May 7. The death is announced of the Hon. F. Ormond, M.L.C. CHIEF JUSTICE ONSLOW. Perth, May 7. The resolution passed by a public meeting has been forwarded to Lord Kiutsford, intimating that if Chief Justice Onslow is removed from his position in consequence of the dispute with the Governor, a serious loss will result to the colony, and such action will affect the independence of any future occupant of the office. THE VICTORIAN RAILWAYS. Melbourne, May 7. The revenue from the railways for the financial year just ended is the largest yet earned, and exceeds £3,000,000, being double that earned nine years ago.
