ADVANCE OF THE MAHDI. Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright Cairo,' April 17. One of the Mahdi's Emirs has reached Sarras, at the head of 1000 men, and the authorities in this city are in a state of great alarm. Cairo, April 18. It is rumoured in this city that El Senouissi defeated the Khalifa with great loss of life at a place seven days' journey from Omdurman. The Mahdi's generals were captured, and after his defeat he retreated to Khartoum.
